In February 2010, IBM announced the first of a new generation of smarter systems with the Power 750, Power 770, and Power 780 servers. IBM also announced new blade servers and systems software that exploit the innovative multi-core design of the new POWER7™ processor.

Their new POWER7 systems deliver unprecedented workload optimized performance across transactional database, web throughput and high speed analytics computing with leadership performance per core, system scalability and increase performance per watt. These new systems deliver up to four times the performance and four times the workload consolidation capacity of POWER6 systems - with comparable energy usage.
